Apple Cider Baked Donuts

Perfect baked donut recipe for those fall mornings, drinking coffee around a fire.


1 1/2 cups apple cider

1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon cardamom

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 large egg

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup brown sugar

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup milk, warmed

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract


1/2 cup salted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tbsp ground cinnamon


for the donuts

  1. Bring apple cider to a boil in a small saucepan, until it's reduced down to about 1/3 of a cup

  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

  3. Combine with melted butter, sugars, milk, and vanilla extract until well mixed.

  4. Add in egg and mix until just incorporated

  5. In a small bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices, mixing until leavening agents are well dispersed

  6. Add flour mixture into wet mixture and stir until just combined

  7. Fill nonstick donut pan with batter, about 3/4 full in each donut ring

  8. Bake for about 10 minutes and allow to cool for 5 minutes while you make the topping

for the topping

  1. Melt 1/2 cup of butter in a small bowl and mix cinnamon and sugar together in a separate bowl

  2. Once donuts have cooled, dip both sides into the melted butter and then coat with the cinnamon sugar mixture

  3. After you get done with the first coat on all the donuts, coat again in another layer of cinnamon sugar
